Rhine Bavaria
Rhein-Bayern was a German manufacturer of commercial vehicle bodies and agricultural machinery and still exists today as a commercial vehicle workshop.
history
Rhein-Bayern was founded in Kaufbeuren in 1925 and was involved in the construction of superstructures on trucks . Among other things, Rhein-Bayern manufactured bodies on Magirus-Deutz chassis in the mid-1970s as part of the Delta project - a billion-dollar major order for German industry from the Soviet Union . In 1985, Rhein-Bayern acquired the rights to the Agrobil brand name from Fendt and built self-propelled agricultural loader wagons under this name , using a four- person club driver's cab from Magirus-Deutz and Iveco and also from MAN's cabs .
In addition to the vehicle construction division, avionic Dittel GmbH also belonged to the group of companies.
In 1992, three Rhein-Bayern managers were arrested; the public prosecutor's office in Augsburg accused them of having supplied the Iraqi nuclear program without authorization .
In 1994, the company filed for bankruptcy, which ended vehicle manufacturing. Today, the remaining Rhein-Bayern company is only a commercial vehicle workshop.
