The design by Rhein-Flugzeugbau Fanstar was a four-seat development of the Rhein-Flugzeugbau Fanliner for the North American market from 1984. The design was later abandoned and not implemented.
history
The design by Rhein-Flugzeugbau Fanstar was created in the mid-1980s at a request from Canadian Bill Rice , who had Fanstar Partners Inc. , which he founded, investigate the production and sales opportunities for Rhein-Flugzeugbau Fanliner in North America . With funding from the provincial government of Manitoba , Rice planned to set up a fanliner production facility in Canada. Notwithstanding the two prototypes of the seventies, the Canadian Fanliner should a Mazda - Wankel engine are equipped. The use of the Whisper Fan jacket screw , which is under development at Rhein-Flugzeugbau , was also examined. During a sales tour in 1987, during which Rice presented the Fanliner II to North American flight schools as a training aircraft, the need for an enlarged Fanliner version with more than two seats became apparent. As a result, the enlarged design of the four-seater Fanstar 200 was created at Rhein-Flugzeugbau.
Fanstar Partners did not succeed in realizing the necessary financing to set up a series production in Canada. After MBB was not interested in participating either, the Fanstar project was abandoned in the late 1980s.
construction
For the four-seater Fanstar 200, Hanno Fischer resorted to the construction of the Rhein-Flugzeugbau Fantrainer , for which a new, four-seater plastic cabin was essentially designed. As with the Fantrainer, the plastic wings of the LFU-205 should also be used with the Fanstar 200 . An Allison 250-C20B turbine with 420 hp was to be used as the drive .
