The Rhenish Apple Route is a 124 km long cycle path through the Rhein-Sieg district on the left bank of the Rhine . The network of trails is approx. 280 km long with branch lines. The cycle path leads through the communities of Alfter , Bornheim , Meckenheim , Rheinbach , Swisttal and Wachtberg , in each of which individual loops with distances of approx. 15 to 40 km complement the main route. The landscape is characterized by fruit and vegetable cultivation.

The cycle path is operated by the Rhein-Voreifel Touristik association. 80% of the estimated total costs for planning, design and implementation are borne by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) .

The official opening of the cycle path took place on May 19, 2019.
