The Rhenish monthly for fruit, garden and vegetable growing (from April 1943 under the title West German monthly for fruit, garden and vegetable growing ) was a monthly magazine in the Prussian Rhine province , which dealt with fruit growing , horticulture and vegetable growing .
history
In 1908, Arnold Freiherr von Solemacher-Antweiler founded the Rheinische monthly magazine for fruit, garden and vegetable growing, the publisher of which was the Bonn- based Chamber of Agriculture for the Rhine Province (today the Chamber of Agriculture of North Rhine-Westphalia ). A short time later the Westdeutsche Gärtner-Zeitung was included in the monthly. In 1914 the number of subscribers was around 20,500, and the number of subscribers increased significantly during the First World War. After the incorporation of the Chamber of Agriculture into the Rhineland regional peasantry within the Reichsnährstand in the summer of 1933, Reichsbauernführer Paul von Eltz-Rübenach granted approval for the continued existence of the trade journal in October. The magazine was renamed in April 1943 and was last published in March 1945. The sheet was continued from 1948 under the title Rheinische monthly for vegetable, fruit and ornamental plants .
The first editor was fruit growing inspector Schulz, who was replaced in 1909 by the new fruit growing inspector Otto Wagner. In 1934 Johannes Gleisberg, head of the horticultural department, took over the editorial office and continued this until 1938. The subtitle of the magazine was in 1928 "Association of the Association of Fruit and Horticultural Associations in the District of the Chamber of Agriculture for the Rhine Province. Journal of the Provincial Association of Rhenish Commercial Fruit and Vegetables Vegetable grower ". The individual purchase price at that time was 0.90 Reichsmarks per quarter plus order money.
