Rhipsalis campos-portoana is a species of plant in the genus Rhipsalis from the cactus family(Cactaceae).

description

Rhipsalis campos-portoana grows epiphytically with drooping or overhanging shoots with limited growth. Compound areoles sit on the shoot tips . The light green, cylindrical shoots are slender, twisting and branching fork-shaped. The main shoots are elongated, the outer side shoots are usually arranged in whorls of three or four . They are 3 to 4 inches long and 1 to 2 millimeters in diameter. The areoles are bare.

The whitish flowers appear at the shoot tips. They are up to 9 millimeters long and only open a little. The spherical fruits are orange.

Distribution, systematics and endangerment

Rhipsalis campos-portoana is common in the Brazilian states of Minas Gerais , Rio de Janeiro , São Paulo , Paraná , Santa Catarina and probably in Espírito Santo at altitudes of 200 to 2300 meters.

It was first described in 1918 by Albert Löfgren . A synonym is Erythrorhipsalis campos-portoana (Loefgr.) Volgin .

In the Red List of Threatened Species of the IUCN , the species is listed as " Least Concern (LC) ". H. listed as not endangered.
