Rhipsalis crispata is a species of plant in the genus Rhipsalis from the cactus family(Cactaceae).

description

Rhipsalis crispata grows epiphytically or on the ground with numerous hanging shoots of unlimited growth. The leaf-like, flat or rarely three-winged, elongated light green shoots are elliptical or obovate and mostly truncated at the base. They are 6 to 10 inches long and 2 to 4 inches wide. Their edges are notched to lobed. The very small areoles have no bristles.

The wheel-shaped, creamy white flowers appear individually or in groups of two to four and reach a diameter of 1 to 1.2 centimeters. The spherical fruits are white.

Distribution, systematics and endangerment

Rhipsalis crispata is common in the Brazilian states of Rio de Janeiro , Pernambuco and São Paulo in various forest types and in dunes near the coast. The first description as Epiphyllum crispatum was published in 1830 by Adrian Hardy Haworth . Curt Ludwig Georg Karl Pfeiffer placed them in the genus Rhipsalis in 1836 .

Rhipsalis crispata was in the Red List of Threatened Species of IUCN in 2002 as " Vulnerable (VU) , d". H. endangered, classified. After the revision of the 2013 list, the species will be classified as " Endangered (EN) ", i. H. listed as endangered.
