Rhipsalis lindbergiana is a species of plant in the genus Rhipsalis from the cactus family(Cactaceae).

description

Rhipsalis lindbergiana grows epiphytically with hanging, differently branched shoots of unlimited growth and reaches a length of up to 2 meters. The smooth shoots are slightly twofold. The cylindrical main shoots are up to 1 meter long and 3 to 5 millimeters in diameter. The side shoots, which are also cylindrical, are shorter and slightly thinner at 2 to 4 millimeters in diameter. The non-assembled areoles are close together and have one or two dark bristles that soon fall off.

The wheel-shaped, pink to white flowers appear on the side of the shoots. They are 3 to 5 millimeters long and can reach a diameter of up to 10 millimeters. The spherical fruits are bright red.

Distribution, systematics and endangerment

Rhipsalis lindbergiana is common in the Brazilian states of Pernambuco , Sergipe , Bahia , Minas Gerais , Espírito Santo Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo .

It was first described in 1890 by Karl Moritz Schumann .

In the Red List of Threatened Species of the IUCN , the species is listed as " Least Concern (LC) ". H. listed as not endangered.
