Rhipsalis neves-armondii is a species of plant in the genus Rhipsalis from the cactus family(Cactaceae). The specific epithet honors the Brazilian Amaro Ferreira das Neves Armond, a director of the Brazilian National Museum.
description
Rhipsalis neves-armondii grows epiphytically or lithophytically , is shrubby with richly mesotonically branched, more or less upright shoots of limited growth. The rotating, deep green shoots arranged in whorls have a diameter of 5 millimeters and a length of up to 10 centimeters.
The silver-white to yellowish-white, wheel-shaped flowers appear near the shoot tips and reach a diameter of up to 4 centimeters. The spherical, berry-like fruits are pink in color.
Distribution, systematics and endangerment
Rhipsalis neves-armondii is common in the Brazilian states of Rio de Janeiro , São Paulo , Paraná and Santa Catarina .
It was first described in 1890 by Karl Moritz Schumann . A synonym is among others Rhipsalis novaesii Gürke (1909).
In the Red List of Threatened Species of the IUCN , the species is listed as " Least Concern (LC) ". H. listed as not endangered.
