Rhipsalis puniceodiscus is a species of plant in the genus Rhipsalis from the cactus family(Cactaceae).

description

Rhipsalis puniceodiscus grows epiphytically and shrubby with slack, hanging shoots of unlimited growth, which are sparsely branched almost acrotonously . The soft, fleshy, light green to yellowish green shoots are cylindrical. They are up to 40 centimeters long and have a diameter of 6 millimeters. The areoles on them are woolly.

The wheel-shaped, creamy white flowers , sometimes tinged with red at the throat, appear laterally and reach a diameter of 1.5 centimeters. The berry-like fruits are golden yellow or red.

Distribution, systematics and endangerment

Rhipsalis puniceodiscus is common in the Brazilian states of Rio de Janeiro , São Paulo , Paraná and Santa Catarina . It was first described in 1893 by Gustaf Anders Lindberg .

In the Red List of Threatened Species of the IUCN , the species is listed as " Least Concern (LC) ". H. listed as not endangered.
