Rhipsalis trigona is a species of plant in the genus Rhipsalis from the cactus family(Cactaceae).

description

Rhipsalis trigona grows epiphytically with richly branched, drooping shoots . The shoots, which branch exclusively acrotonically, have limited growth. They are sharp triangular with ribs running through them . The slightly twisted shoots have a diameter of 8 to 10 millimeters and are up to 10 centimeters long. The woolly areoles often have a bristle.

The white to slightly pink, wheel-shaped flowers appear on the side of the shoots and reach a diameter of up to 2 centimeters. The spherical fruits are red.

Distribution, systematics and endangerment

Rhipsalis trigona is common in the Brazilian states of São Paulo , Paraná and Santa Catarina .

It was first described in 1837 by Ludwig Georg Karl Pfeiffer . A synonym is Lepismium trigonum (whistle) Backeb.

In the Red List of Threatened Species of the IUCN , the species is listed as " Least Concern (LC) ". H. listed as not endangered.
