Rhona Brankin

Rhona Brankin (born January 19, 1950 ) is a Scottish politician and member of the Scottish National Party (SNP).

In the Scottish parliamentary elections in 1999 , 2003 and 2007 she won the direct mandate in the constituency of Midlothian and moved into the Scottish Parliament . In July 2010, Brankin announced that he would no longer stand for election.

Life

Brankin attended Jordanhill College School in Glasgow and Aberdeen University , where she graduated with a bachelor's degree in history and politics. Brankin then trained as an elementary school teacher at the Moray House College of Education in Edinburgh . In the years that followed, she held various positions as a teacher.

Between 1999 and 2011 Brankin won the direct mandate of her constituency Midlothian, which was dissolved in the course of the revision of the constituencies in 2011, so that there is no direct successor. She has held various positions as Secretary of State in the Scottish Parliament, including culture, development, the environment and health.

Rhona Brankin is married and has two grown daughters.
