The Rhyolite Head is a headland of King George Island in the South Shetland Islands . On the banks of Admiralty Bay , it lies between Cardozo Cove and Goulden Cove , the two branches of the Ezcurra Fjord . The Barrel Point forms its eastern branch.
The British Antarctic Survey carried out geological surveys here between 1975 and 1976. It is named after large intrusions of rhyolite in the rock of the headland.
