Rhys Day (born August 31, 1982 in Bridgend ) is a Welsh football player . The former U-21 international was most recently under contract with Aldershot Town . His older brother Ryan Day is a professional snooker .

Career

Day signed a professional contract with Manchester City in 1999 , but remained there until his departure in 2003 without a competitive game. In the 2001/02 season, the 12-time Welsh U-21 international was loaned to Blackpool FC for a few months , from November 2002 to January 2003 he was on loan from the third division team Mansfield Town , which he was still in the winter break committed. At the end of the season he was relegated to the fourth division with Mansfield, the direct resurgence was missed by a 4-1 play-off defeat on penalties against Huddersfield Town . Day was voted “Player of the Season” by supporters of the club this season (2003/04). In the following two seasons injuries threw him back again and again and his contract was not renewed in 2006.

He found a new employer with fifth division club Aldershot Town and was appointed the new captain by coach Gary Waddock before the 2007/08 season. His first season as captain of the "Shots" ended with the championship title and the associated promotion to Football League Two . At the end of April 2009 it was announced that his contract would not be renewed. In late July, he then signed a two-year contract with Oxford United .
