Ria Beckers (born November 2, 1938 in Driebergen , † March 22, 2006 in Wadenoijen ) was a Dutch politician of the GroenLinks .

Life

Beckers studied pedagogy, Latin and Greek at the University of Utrecht . Beckers was a member of the Politieke Partij Radialen (PPR) party, from 1974 to 1976 she was party leader. From 1977 to 1989 Beckers was a member of the Second Chamber of the States General , from 1977 to 1989 parliamentary group chairman of the PPR. In 1989 she became a member of the newly founded GroenLinks party, from 1989 to 1993 she was parliamentary group leader. After the end of her political career, Beckers was chairwoman of the Foundation for Nature and Environment in the Netherlands and a member of the supervisory board of Wageningen University .

Beckers was married and had three children.
