Riaz Ahmed Gohar Shahi (ریاض احمدگوھرشاہی; * November 25, 1941 in Dhok Gohar Shah in Rawalpindi District , British India , United Kingdom (since 1947 to Pakistan ); † November 25, 2001 in Manchester , England , United Kingdom ) also known as Sayyedna Riaz Ahmed Gohar Shahi (سیدناریاض احمدگوھرشاہی) or Hazrat Sayyedna Riaz Ahmed Gohar Shahi Muddazullahul Aali (حضرت سیدناریاض احمدگوھرشاہی مدظلہ العالی), was a Muslim Sufi and author , as well as founder and spiritual leader of the "International Spiritual Movement Anjuman Serfaroshan-e-Islam".

Etymology of the name

His full name was Riaz (Riyadh) Ahmed Gohar Shahi. Riaz means "piece" or "garden", Ahmed is one of the names of Muhammad and the surname Gohar Shahi means "royal gem" and comes from his ancestor Baba Ali Shah, who was himself a famous Sufi and spiritualist Gohar. The village where Gohar Shahi was born is called Dhok Gohar Shah , which means something like the village of Gohar Shah . Gohar Shahi is the fifth generation after Gohar Baba Ali Shah.

Life

Since childhood he lived under the influence and control of traditional Muslim Sufis and "saints". At the age of twenty, when Gohar Shahi owned FQ Steel Industries, he went in search of spirituality among the "saints" and dervishes of his time. It was only after he gained spiritual insight that he returned to his job, got married and had three children. At the age of thirty-four, Bari Imam sent him to the shrine of Sultan Bahu to reach a new spiritual level ( Inner Spiritual Dimensions of Knowledge ). Gohar Shahi left work, family and parents and went to Shorkot , where he studied his book Nurul Huda (Light of Guidance) under the supervision of the Sultan Bahu . He then went to Sehwan Sharif for self-mortification and peace of mind, and spent three years in self-purification in the mountains of Sehwan Sharif and in the forest of Laal Bagh.

In a short time it became popular in Pakistan. Gohar Shahi has been invited to visit and speak in mosques , Hindu temples, churches and Sikh temples. He is said to have been the first Muslim invited by people of many faiths to teach in their temples.

Gohar Shahi died on November 25, 2001 in Manchester , United Kingdom at a pneumonia . The body of Gohar Shahi was brought back to Pakistan and buried in Markazi Aastana on Kotri, where the International Secretariat of the International Spiritual Movement Anjuman Serfaroshan-e-Islam is located. His followers make pilgrimages to his mausoleum . Gohar Shahi's family still lives in Kotri, including his widow, five sons and a daughter.

Literary works

Gohar Shahi authored a number of books and treatises, including what is known in Sufi poetry as Turyaaq-e-Qulb, which means "healing for the heart". Gohar Shahi's works include:

  • Ruhani Safar (Spiritual Journey)
  • Menara-e-Noor (Minart of Light)
  • Roshnash (An Induction)
  • Tuhfa permanent majalis (gift from congregations)
  • Deen-e-Illahi (The Religion of God) -Gohar Shahi as the main activity of his followers.
