Ricardo Basbaum
Ricardo Basbaum (* 1961 in São Paulo , Brazil ) is a Brazilian artist and author who lives in Rio de Janeiro . With the social sculpture Would you like to participate in an artistic experience? he accompanies the run-up to documenta 12 .
biography
After studying (BA) in biology at the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (1979–1982), he also graduated in Rio at the PUC in the history of Brazilian art and architecture (1985–1987). This was followed by postgraduate studies (MA) in fine arts at Goldsmiths College of the University of London (1993–1994) and in communication and culture at the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (1991–1996). Numerous exhibitions mainly in Brazil, but also in Latin America and Europe. He is co-editor (together with Eduardo Coimbra ) of the art magazine item, which is published in Rio de Janeiro, and of Arte Contemporean Brasileira . He teaches art theory and art history at the Instituto de Artes of the Universidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro .
