Riccardo Bacchelli

Riccardo Bacchelli (born April 19, 1891 in Bologna , † October 8, 1985 in Monza ) was an Italian journalist and writer .

Life

Bacchelli began studying at the University of Bologna , but dropped out. After working as a journalist for a few years, he settled down as a freelance writer. In Bacchelli's early work - in addition to plays and novels - poetry was a major focus; in later work there were more and more novels.

However, he became known throughout Europe for his historical novels, which he was able to make both knowledgeable and exciting. In "The Mill on the Po", Bacchelli paints a detailed picture of the history of Italy from the end of the Napoleonic period to the emergence of the modern state of Italy and the First World War . Bacchelli provides information on the history of Italian socialism in his critical work "The Devil on the Pontelungo".

The writer Riccardo Bacchelli died on October 8, 1985 in Monza at the age of 94.
