Riccardo Calimani

Riccardo Calimani (* 1946 in Venice ) is an Italian writer and vice president of the Jewish community in Venice.

He studied electrical engineering at the University of Padua and completed a degree in the philosophy of science at the University of Venice . He became known through his numerous Judaic publications and through his work for the television station RAI . From 1994 to 1998 he was director of the Palazzo Labia .

Most of his works were published by Arnoldo Mondadori Editore . This includes the Dialogo sull'ebraismo , an edition of the work of the Venetian rabbi Simone Calimani from the 18th century. For I destini e le avventure dell'intellettuale ebreo he received the Premio Tobagi in 1996, in 2000 he published the Storia del ghetto di Venezia , and in 2002 L'Inquisizione a Venezia . In 1997 he received the European Culture Prize . He is currently President of the Fondazione nazionale Museo dell'Ebraismo e della Shoah in Ferrara .
