European Culture Prize Pro Europe
The European Culture Prize Pro Europa refers to cultural prizes that are awarded by the European Cultural Foundation Pro Europa from 1993 to 2015 under the name European Culture Prize and since 2018 under the name Yœurope Award .
The aim of the European Cultural Foundation Pro Europa is to foster cultural dialogue and cultural exchange between European states and regions. The foundation honors initiatives, politicians, artists and institutions for their outstanding services and achievements in and for Europe. Young artists receive sponsorship awards endowed with prize money. The European Cultural Foundation Pro Europa is a non-profit foundation under Swiss law. The foundation is based in Basel and has had a branch in Berlin since 2018.
President, later Honorary President of the European Cultural Foundation Pro Europa was its initiator Ernst Seidel since it was founded in 1993 ; in 2012 Tilo Braune took over the chairmanship.
European culture prizes were given to over 110 winners in the fields of culture in general , garden culture , music , art , communication , international community , human rights and politics / economy . The presidents of the Parliamentary Assemblies of the Council of Europe and the European Parliament were the patrons of the awards ceremony , and leading figures from politics, business and culture were lauders for the awards .
The European Culture Awards have been operating under the name yœurope-award (Your Europe = Yœurope) since 2018 . Prizes are awarded in the categories of music , performing arts , literature , social engagement and research .
