Koh Gabriel Kameda (Japanese: 亀 田光) (born January 14, 1975 in Freiburg im Breisgau ) is a German - Japanese violinist and violin teacher.

childhood

Kameda was born into a family of doctors in Freiburg. He started playing the violin at the age of five. He received his first award at the age of eight. Shortly afterwards he began studying with Josef Rissin in Karlsruhe.

Career

In 1997, Kameda was the first winner of the Henryk Szeryng International Violin Competition. After hearing him play, Yehudi Menuhin enthusiastically declared that he was "very impressed" with his performance and James Galway announced that he was "one of the most remarkable players of his generation".

In 1993 the violinist and conductor Pinchas invited Zukerman Kameda to work with him in New York at the Manhattan School of Music.

He won many national and international awards. He took part in the 2nd Eurovision Young Musicians on behalf of the Federal Republic of Germany.

Kameda plays on an Antonio Stradivari violin made in 1727 and also on a violin made by David Tecchler in 1715.
