Frank Wössner

Frank Wössner (born March 29, 1941 in Berlin ; † March 3, 2020 ) was a German manager .

Life

Wössner studied 1962-1968 economics in Cologne , Erlangen-Nuremberg and Freiburg . After graduating with a degree in business administration in 1969, he first worked in insurance, where he rose to become a board member of R + V Versicherung in Karlsruhe.

1985 Wössner moved to Bertelsmann as divisional director for the book and record community . In 1989 he was appointed to the group board with responsibility for the entire book division in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. In 1994 he became CEO of Bertelsmann Buch and was thus responsible for all the public publishers as well as the book and music clubs. After his brother Mark Wössner withdrew from his position as CEO in July 2000, Frank also left Bertelsmann. In addition to his work for the group, Wössner was a member of the Advisory Board of the Bertelsmann Foundation from 1986 to 1988 and the Board of Trustees of the German Stroke Foundation from 1993 to 2000 .

From 2003 Wössner was CEO of the Berlin Dussmann Group . In September 2005 Wössner retired early.
