Claude Pompidou (nee Claude Jacqueline Cahour ) (born November 13, 1912 in Château-Gontier ( Département Mayenne ), † July 3, 2007 in Paris ) was France's First Lady or Première Dame from 1969 to 1974.

Born the daughter of a doctor, she lost her mother at the age of three.

She studied law in Paris, where she met her future husband, Georges Pompidou (1911–1974). The couple, married since 1935, adopted Alain Pompidou, born in 1942 . From June 20, 1969 until his death on April 2, 1974, she was the Première dame de France at her husband's side .

She was exceptionally interested in contemporary art and commissioned young artists to furnish the Elysée Palace. She also set up the Claude Pompidou Foundation .
