Diane Duchess of Württemberg
Diane Françoise Maria da Glória Duchess of Württemberg (born d'Orléans; born March 24, 1940 in Petrópolis , Brazil ) is a German artist of French origin and the wife of Carl Herzog von Württemberg , the head of the House of Württemberg .
Life
Diane Duchess of Württemberg is the daughter of Henri d'Orléans from the House of Bourbon and Isabelle d'Orléans-Bragance .
Her artistic career began in 1954 when she became familiar with fabric painting . Then she learned numerous other techniques: wood painting , screen printing , stucco and glass painting .
On July 18, 1960, she and Carl Herzog von Württemberg married at Altshausen Castle ; the church wedding took place on July 21, 1960, also in Altshausen . The sons Friedrich , Eberhard, Philipp and Michael and the daughters Mathilde and Fleur emerged from the marriage. The family lives in Altshausen Castle in Altshausen.
After a break from work from 1968 to 1971 due to illness, around 80 pictures were created annually between 1971 and 1980. At the beginning of the eighties she turned to new techniques and devoted herself to the design in bronze and metal and had to learn to weld .
Her work has been shown in numerous exhibitions around the world. Diane Duchess of Württemberg is the founder of two foundations , the German Duchess Diane von Württemberg, Princess of France Foundation for Youth Care and Monument Protection (1979) and the French Foundation Les Enfants de la Vie (1989) for projects for children in the slums of the Third World .
In 1999, Duchess Diane of Württemberg made a pilgrimage on the Spanish Way of St. James to Santiago de Compostela . Since then she has been supporting projects to expand the infrastructure of the Camino de Santiago as patron.
In the media and aristocratic circles she is often addressed as "Her Royal Highness" (HRH), this is a purely polite form of address with no legal relevance.
