Robert d'Orléans, duc de Chartres

Robert Philippe Louis Eugène Ferdinand d'Orléans, Duke of Chartres (born November 9, 1840 in Paris , † December 5, 1910 in Château de Saint Firmin ) was the son of Prince Ferdinand Philippe d'Orléans and grandson of King Ludwig Philipp . He took part on the side of the Northern States in the American Civil War and in 1870 in the Franco-Prussian War . In 1863 he married his cousin Françoise d'Orléans (1844–1925), the daughter of François d'Orléans, in Kingston-on-Thames .

In 1886 he was exiled.
