Sam Keller

Samuel "Sam" Keller (born January 6, 1966 in Basel ) is museum director of the Fondation Beyeler in Riehen near Basel. From 2000 to 2007 he was director of the Art Basel art fair .

Career

From 1985 to 1990 Sam Keller studied art history and philosophy at the University of Basel . After dropping out of his studies, he worked as a journalist and was appointed head of communications at Art Basel in 1994. From 1998 he was its deputy director, from 2000 to 2007 he was director of the important art fair. During his time, the fair successfully expanded into the USA with Art Basel Miami Beach , where it was able to establish itself as the leading art fair in North America. In 2008, Sam Keller was appointed director of the Fondation Beyeler in Riehen near Basel by the co-founder of Art Basel, Ernst Beyeler .
