Sir Evelyn Robert Adrian de Rothschild (born August 29, 1931 in London ) is a British financier and banker .

Career

Rothschild is the son of Anthony Gustav de Rothschild (1887–1961) and Yvonne Lydia Louise Cahen d'Anvers (1899–1977), who named him after their uncle Evelyn Achille de Rothschild (1886–1917), who died on the Palestine front during World War I. . He first attended the Harrow School and then studied History at Trinity College of Cambridge University . In 1957, at the age of 26, he joined NM Rothschild & Sons Bank in London, where he trained. As early as 1955, Rothschild's father had resigned from the position of director of the bank after a long illness. He previously handed over the business to Evelyn's cousin Victor de Rothschild .

In 1968 Rothschild was appointed director of the Rothschild Frères Bank in Paris . In 1976 he took over the chairmanship of NM Rothschild & Sons in London. In 1984 he also became Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors of Rothschild Bank in Zurich . March 21, 1989 Rothschild was by Queen Elizabeth II. To Knight Bachelor beaten ( "Sir") and has since also financial adviser to the British Crown . Until he retired from banking in 2003 at the age of 72, he led the merger of the English and French branches of Rothschild banks.

Private

Rothschild was married three times. First from 1966 to 1971 with Jeanette Bishop. He was then married to Victoria Lou Schott from 1973 to 2000. From this marriage three children (Jessica de Rothschild, Anthony James de Rothschild and David Mayer de Rothschild ) were born. His current wife, Lynn Forester de Rothschild, brought two children into the marriage (Benjamin Forester Stein and John Forester Stein).
