Antonia-Alexa Georgiew (born June 20, 1985 in Hamburg ) is a German violinist .

Life

Georgiev received her first violin lessons at the age of six. She was tutored by Zakhar Bron at the age of 8 ; a little later she studied as a young student in his master class at the Lübeck University of Music . From October 1998 she continued her musical studies, u. a. continued with Dora Schwarzberg, at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna. From 2001 to 2003 she had a scholarship from the Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben . She received further scholarships from the Jürgen Ponto Foundation and the Herbert von Karajan Center Vienna.

At the Jugend musiziert competition she won first prize at state level in 1996 and first prize at federal level in 1998 in the "violin solo" category. On December 16, 2000, Antonia-Alexa Georgiew was awarded the European Prize for Young Artists in Basel .

She made her debut as a solo violinist at the age of 14 with the Berliner Symphoniker in the Great Hall of the Berlin Philharmonic . As a violin soloist, she has made guest appearances with numerous orchestras at home and abroad. She appeared as a soloist at charity events with prominent figures , including with Christian Tetzlaff . She performed a. a. with concerts with the Staatskapelle Weimar and the Philharmonie Plovdiv. She also played in the Ensemble Cantus Trio Vienna .

She worked as a studio owner a. a. with Wolfgang Ambros , Francis International Airport , Drew Sarich and The Beth Edges . Live she played u. a. with Owen Pallett , Mono & Nikitaman and Blixa Bargeld . She also worked on two short film projects by the artist duo Markus Muntean / Adi Rosenblum .

Until 2012 she played in the band Russkaja , which became known in Austria through the album release Kasatchok Superstar . Together with Russkaja, she went on a European tour in May 2008. She appeared weekly with Russkaja on ORF on the late night talk show “ Willkommen Österreich ”. In this context she worked a. a. with Helge Schneider , Mia and Udo Jürgens .

Since 2013, Antonia-Alexa Georgiew has been playing the first violin of Ensemble013 at the “ Jedermann ” performances at the Salzburg Festival . In 2015 she was engaged as concertmaster for the production of Kurt Weill's successful piece Die Dreigroschenoper .

Georgiev lives in Vienna .
