The Beth Edges was founded in 2007 in Linz , Upper Austria by singer Tobias Gruenzweil, drummer David Krämer and guitarist Gabriel Woeginger, who already knew each other from school. Half a year later, Florian Palmsteiner started playing bass. According to interviews, the band was named after a girl named Elisabeth Ecker. With their musical style, they are similar to bands like The Kooks , The Hives or Mando Diao .

Tobias Gruenzweil

In February 2008, The Beth Edges played a concert in St. Pölten, Lower Austria, where they were discovered by employees of the management and booking agency Teamrider United (formerly DDG Music ) and signed a little later. In December of the same year The Beth Edges released their first EP Time , with whose single of the same name they were played for the first time by the Austrian alternative radio station FM4 . In April 2009 her second EP was released with the title I Guess . They also produced their first music video for the single of the same name. Three months later the third EP Work Things Out was released and in March 2010 the fourth EP I Can't Believe It . The music videos for I Guess , Work Things Out and I Can't Believe It were played by the Austrian music broadcaster gotv and entered its charts. In addition, there is I Can not Believe It on the FM4 Sound Selection 22nd

All previous releases appeared under the indie label Acute Music and were produced by Paul R. Wallner .

The Beth Edges played in October 2008 as support for The Wombats and in the spring of 2009 as the opening act for Razorlight , which quickly helped them to become more widely known.

Andreas Foedinger

At the Amadeus Austrian Music Award 2010 the band was nominated for the FM4 Award and as Artist of the Year in the Alternative category.

On May 4, 2012, The Beth Edges released their second studio album, Blank Coins, Round Dice . The release show also took place on May 4th at Flex in Vienna .

Florian Palmsteiner

On May 7, 2013, lead guitarist Gabriel Woeginger officially left The Beth Edges. On May 16, 2013 the band announced via Facebook that Andreas Foedinger (ex- picture book drummer) had been accepted as a new full-fledged band member. The band immediately started writing new songs for a third studio album.

The third studio album, The Beth Edges , was recorded between December 2013 and January 2014 in Ebensee , Upper Austria, and released on May 14, 2014 on Acute Music. In close cooperation with studio engineer Alex "Fire" Tomann , who later mixed The Beth Edges in Vienna, the album was produced and recorded by the four members on their own, according to the CD booklet and various interviews. The album release was followed by an extensive tour through Austria.

For the band's ten-year anniversary, the band is releasing a vinyl press of their live concert limited to 200 copies at the ORF Radiokulturhaus 2016 in Vienna. The songs have been arranged differently and brought on stage with 16 musicians. Including the voices of the swing band Bye Maxene . The entire sound experience on stage was a premiere for the band themselves, as they could not rehearse all parts together with the orchestra.

The concept of the EP

The Beth Edges reportedly had no plans to produce an album from the start. Instead, the attempt was made to release a new EP every three months, which quickly proved to be a very productive concept. In combination with a graphic layout of each EP that was stimulating to collect, The Beth Edges were constantly present, which gave them a steadily growing level of awareness in a very short time. Thus, four singles were released and three music videos were produced within one year. The band has released four EPs with three tracks each, which were released together as a scrapbook with a limited edition of 500 copies.
