Rich List - Every Answer Counts was a game show produced by Constantin Entertainment GmbH with the support of 12 Yard Productions. The show was moderated by Kai Pflaume . The first season with 15 episodes was aired from May 26, 2007 to July 15, 2007. The second season was shown without interruption with 9 more episodes. From July 5, 2008, the third season was shown on Saturdays at 7:15 pm.

The concept comes from England. In the US, Rich List was set after one episode on FOX television . In Australia, the show ran successfully for three years.

Rules of the game

There are always two teams (champions and challengers) competing against each other. Each team consists of two people who have never met before. The players sit in soundproof booths.

The first rounds

The first two of up to three qualification rounds have the same structure. The teams are given a topic (for example: James Bond films) and some additional information. After that, the champions are muted and the moderator asks the challengers how many answers they offer. After the challengers have been muted, the bid will be passed on to the champions who have now been unlocked. These can now increase, whereupon they are muted again and the opponents are unlocked to hear the new offer and possibly increase it.

This continues until a team does not want to increase any further or offers the maximum of the list, if this is specified. The team with the highest bid must now play the list and give the specified number of answers without errors in order to get a point. However, if they make a mistake, the opponents get the point. At the end of the round, a reference list with the correct answers not yet mentioned is shown.

If a team emerges as the winner of both rounds, they become or remain the champions, may play on the rich list and compete again.

The tie break

A tie-break occurs if there is no winner after the first two rounds. Both teams face each other in the tie-break. A topic is given to which both teams, starting with the challengers, have to give answers. Should the challengers make a mistake and the champions provide a correct answer, the latter will remain in play. If the champions give an incorrect answer, the challengers become the new champions. If the champions give a wrong answer immediately after the challengers (in the same round), a second tie-break follows. At the end of the tie-break, the reference list is displayed again.

The rich list

The Rich List is only played by the champions. They have to provide answers on a topic in order to reach a profit level. For the first three correct answers there are 5000 euros, with three further answers the next profit level follows. With fifteen answers there is the maximum prize of 100,000 euros. The team can stop at any winning level. However, if you decide to continue playing, you will not be able to do this until you reach the next winning level. If the answer is incorrect, the team will lose all profit from this rich list and the next round will begin after the possible answers are shown.

So far, there has been the maximum prize of 100,000 euros four times:

  • in the broadcast on May 28 with the question of the Formula 1 world champions from 1950 to 2006
  • in the broadcast on June 24th with the question of the previous presidents of the USA
  • in the broadcast on July 22nd when asked about the European countries that have the color blue in their flags
  • in the broadcast on July 29 when asked about the Oscar winners in the "Best Actor" category

The most successful couple so far have been Sylke and Michael, who played the Rich List eleven times and won the highest prize twice.
