Rich Melzer

Richard Adam "Rich" Melzer (born December 8, 1979 in Minneapolis , Minnesota ) is a retired American basketball player .

The 2.02 m tall and 102 kg heavy power forward played in the USA for Washburn High School, the University of Wisconsin-River Falls and Sioux Falls Skyforce. In 2005 he moved to New Zealand to join the New Zealand Breakers and then went on a basket hunt for ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne in France and Gilboa / Afula / Migdal Haemek in Israel.

In the 2007/08 season he was under contract with the German Bundesliga club Artland Dragons . From the 2011/12 season he was part of the New York Phantoms Braunschweig team for one year . For the 2012/13 season Melzer received no new contract in Braunschweig and left the team again. He moved to France to ESSM Le Portel Cote D'Opale . However, he tore his Achilles tendon there before the start of the 2012/13 season. He ended his career and started a coaching career in the USA.
