Richard Angelo (born August 29, 1962 on Long Island , New York ) is an American serial killer . He killed at least ten people by injecting them with a muscle relaxant and then attempting to reanimate them.

Angelo worked as an orderly in the Good Samaritan Hospital in the town of West Islip on Long Iceland in the US state of New York . He was also active in the volunteer fire department . As a nurse, he administered the muscle relaxants Pavulon and Anectine to numerous patients from 1984 to 1987 . When the patients began to stop breathing, Angelo tried to reanimate them. Angelo wanted to stand there as a lifesaver and thereby fulfill his urge for recognition. Since the resuscitation was not always successful, several people died.

The patient Gerolamo Kucich noticed that Angelo was giving him something. Kucich survived the circulatory collapse and told a nurse about his observation, whereupon the patient's urine found the two drugs Angelo administered, which the patient had not been prescribed. The police seized the two drugs in Angelo's possession and arrested him on October 12, 1987 on suspicion of murder in 25 cases. The bodies of ten deceased patients Angelos were exhumed and muscle-slacking substances were found in all of the bodies. The jury found Angelo guilty of manslaughter or assault in a total of ten cases, leading to a 50-year sentence .

In the media, Angelo was the Angel of Death ( Angel of Death known).
