Richard Cevantis Carrier (born December 1, 1969 ) is an American historian and philosopher. He worked for Internet Infidels as editor-in-chief for several years . In his writings and lectures he expresses doubts about the historical existence of Jesus Christ . He is featured in Warren A. Smith's Who's Who in Hell (2000).

Life

Carrier earned his BA from Berkeley and his MA , M.Phil. and Ph.D. at Columbia University . His view of the historical existence of Jesus was presented in the documentary The God Who Wasn't There (2005).

A correspondence between Richard Carrier and Antony Flew towards the end of his life became famous .

In 2015, Carrier announced that he had ended a twenty-year marriage to his wife Jennifer (nee Paynter). He stated to be polyamorous .
