Richard Dannatt (2007)

Richard Dannatt, Baron Dannatt , GCB , CBE , MC (born December 23, 1950 in Chelmsford ) is a retired general . D. of the British Army and was Chief of its General Staff from 2006 to 2009 .

In August 2009 he was named constable of the Tower of London and in September chairman of the Royal United Services Institute for Defense Studies (RUSI). His announcement that he would join the Conservative Party faction in the House of Lords as a senior military man caused quite a stir in the UK in the fall of 2009 . On October 14, 2009, he therefore announced his resignation from the position of RUSI chairman.

On January 19, 2011, he was raised as a life peer to Baron Dannatt , of Keswick in the County of Norfolk, and has been a member of the House of Lords ever since .

From 2009 to 2016, Dannatt was constable of the Tower .
