Richard G. Morris
Richard Graham Michael Morris (* 1948 ) is a British neuroscientist .
He is known for developing the Morris Water Maze, one of the most common rodent learning tasks of today , and for his work on the function of the hippocampus .
Morris is currently Director of the Center for Cognitive and Neural Systems (CCNS) in Edinburgh and the Wolfson Professor of Neuroscience at the University of Edinburgh .
He has been a Fellow of the Royal Society since 1997, a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences since 2004, a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science since 2005, a member of the Royal Norwegian Scientific Society since 2006 , the EMBO since 2014 and the National since 2020 Academy of Sciences . Morris was named Commander of the Order of the British Empire in 2007. For 2013 he was awarded the Neuronal Plasticity Prize .
