Richard Gaikowski

Richard Gaikowski (born March 30, 1880 in Dortmund , † June 5, 1932 in Danzig ) was a German trade union official and politician ( center ).

Richard Gaikowski was the son of a wheelwright. He attended elementary school and did a further training in molding at the Dortmund mechanical engineering school. In 1905 he was a student of the economics course of the Volksverein for Catholic Germany in Mönchengladbach . In 1908 he became workers 'secretary of the Catholic workers' association in Bochum , in 1911 an employee of the Christian metal workers 'association in Dortmund and in the same year district manager of the Christian metal workers' association in Danzig. He held this task until his death.

In 1916 he became a city councilor in Gdansk. In 1920 he became a member of the Gdańsk State Council and then elected to the Constituent Assembly. From 1920 until his death he was a member of the People's Day and from 1929 until his death its vice-president. He died of a stroke.
