Richard Gamauf

Richard Gamauf (* 1964 ) is an Austrian legal historian .

He completed his law studies on July 12, 1988 at the University of Vienna , where he received his Ad statuam licet confugere on March 31, 1992 . Investigations to the right of asylum in the Roman principate was doctorate and itself in May 2001 with Vindicatio nummorum. A study on the scope and practical implementation of property protection of money in classical Roman law completed his habilitation . He is professor at the Institute for Roman Law and Ancient Legal History at the University of Vienna and recipient of the Premio Kupiszewski within the framework of the 5th Premio internazionale romanistico Gererd Boulvert in Naples (2001). In 2004 he was visiting professor at the Catholic Loyola University New Orleans .

One focus of his work is the collaboration on the edition of an annotated corpus of Roman legal texts on slavery by the Mainz Academy of Sciences and Roman Law (in particular social-historical and mentality-historical aspects).
