Thomas Olechowski

Thomas Olechowski (born January 25, 1973 in Vienna ) is an Austrian legal historian.

Life

He completed his habilitation in 2003 at the University of Vienna and since then has taught as an associate professor at the University of Vienna, from 2004–2014 also at the Pan-European University in Bratislava . In 2019 he was appointed professor for Austrian and European legal history at the University of Vienna.

In 2008 Olechowski was elected a corresponding member, in 2013 he was elected a real member of the philosophical-historical class of the Austrian Academy of Sciences , of which he has headed the Commission for the Legal History of Austria from 2010 to 2012 and again since 2015. He has been the managing director of the Hans Kelsen Institute since 2011 .

Olechowski is the son of the educationalist Richard Olechowski .

Prizes and awards

  • 1998: Alfons Tropper Prize , Prize of the Austrian Academy of Sciences (philosophical-historical class) for research in the field of the Austrian constitutional state
