Herbert Hausmaninger

Herbert Hausmaninger (born April 21, 1936 in Salzburg ) is an Austrian lawyer and university professor.

Hausmaninger studied law in Graz ( doctorate on May 26, 1959) and was a research assistant at the University of Vienna from 1960 . In 1964 he completed his habilitation in the field of Roman law , in 1965 he was appointed associate professor and in 1968 he was appointed full professor. Since 1971 Hausmaninger has been a regular visiting professor at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville . He was also a visiting professor at several other American universities as well as in Moscow and Paris. He is also a trained interpreter for Russian. Hausmaninger's work focuses on Roman private law and international comparative law, but also Soviet ( Russian) law .
