Richard James Allen

Richard James Allen (born June 4, 1902 in Nagpur , Maharashtra , † 1969 in Bangalore , Karnataka ) was an Indian hockey player . Besides Dhyan Chand , he was the only player involved in India's first three Olympic victories.

At the Olympic Games in 1928 , 1932 and 1936 , Allen was a goalkeeper in the Indian team . In 1928 he remained clean in all five games of his team. In 1932 Arthur Charles Hind played in the game against the Japanese in goal, at 11: 1 he had to allow the Indians to concede the first goal. Allen was in goal in the game against the United States and also conceded a goal at 24-1. In 1936 Allen was used four times and received a goal against the German team in the final, India won the game 8-1.

Allen was married and had three children.
