Richard König (politician)

Richard König (born August 22, 1890 in Jegenstorf , † January 11, 1949 in Bern , presumably reformed , resident in Wiggiswil ) was a Swiss politician (BGB) and economist .

Life

Richard König was born on August 22, 1890 in Jegenstorf as the son of the doctor and landowner Friedrich König. Between 1910 and 1913, König began studying at the agricultural department of the ETH Zurich , which he completed with the academic degree of Dipl.-Ing. agr. graduated. He then took economic studies in Berlin until 1916 .

As a result, he ran a farm. To this end, he was employed as a research assistant at the Swiss Farmers' Secretariat in Brugg between 1917 and 1929 , before accepting the professorship for practical economics at the University of Bern .

Richard König was married to Margrit, born Belart, who was born in Bruges. He died on January 11, 1949 a few months after turning 58 in Bern.

Political activity

Richard König, a student and closest colleague of the farmer's secretary Ernst Laur , played a key role in founding the peasants, trade and citizens' party in 1918. A year later he was elected to the National Council, to which he belonged until 1934, and in which he represented the interests of agriculture, above all in credit, finance and customs issues.

He also acted as Vice President of the Swiss Loan Fund and from 1940 to 1949 as President of the Bank Council of the Bern Cantonal Bank . He was also represented on the Bank Council of the Swiss National Bank between 1941 and 1949 .
