Richard Edward Lambourne (born May 6, 1975 in Louisville, Kentucky ) is an American volleyball player .
Career
Lambourne sustained serious shoulder and face injuries in a bicycle accident when he was six. Nevertheless, he began a sports career, initially in baseball . At Brigham Young University , he came to volleyball and initially played as an outside attacker before becoming a libero. In November 2000 he made his debut for the US national team and in 2001 reached the final of the NORCECA championship with the team . In the same year he went to the Austrian league for the Aon hotVolleys in Vienna . With the club, he won the national championship and cup double twice in a row in 2002 and 2003. In addition, the US team with Lambourne 2003 won the continental championship. The Libero then played one season each for the Dutch club Piet Zoomers Apeldoorn and in Greece for GS Lamia . After successfully defending his title at the NORCECA championship in 2005, he worked for one year with Noliko Maaseik before joining the Polish first division club AZS UWM Olsztyn . In 2007, the USA achieved the third continental title in a row with Lambourne and also reached the final of the Pan American Games . In 2008 the US team won the World League and then triumphed in the final of the Olympic tournament against Brazil . In the 2008/09 season Lambourne played for the Russian club VK Lokomotiv-Belogorje . After losing the final of the NORCECA championship in 2009, he went back to Poland to Delecta Bydgoszcz . There he was released in 2010 for disciplinary reasons. He has been with league competitor Effector Kielce since 2011 .
