Richard Le Poer

Richard John De La Poer Beresford (born August 19, 1987 ) is an English polo player with a handicap of 4.

Le Poer is the captain of the Young England polo team and is considered one of the best young players in the world.

He is the grandson of John Beresford, 8th Marquess of Waterford and the son of Henry Beresford, 9th Marquess of Waterford and his heir to the title, hence the courtesy title of Earl of Tyrone . Before his grandfather's death, he carried the courtesy title of Lord Le Poer , which is why he became known as Richard Le Poer.

The Beresford family is one of the oldest polo dynasties in the world.

Career

Due to his family's enthusiasm for polo, he wanted to become a professional polo player as a child. He joined the Berkeley Polo Cub in Gloucestershire when he was nine and won the national under-11 championship in his first year.

He started playing with adults at 12, with teammates including Prince William and Mark Tomlinson .

Between 2003 and 2006 he was the captain of the Harrow School Polo Team.

At the St. Moritz Polo World Cup on Snow , he played for the Julius Baer team in 2009 and 2010 . In 2010, however, his team had to admit defeat to the Cartier team . In the current world rankings, he is 85th with 104 points.
