Mark Tomlinson

Mark Tomlinson (born March 25, 1982 in Great Britain ) is a professional English polo player and member of the English national polo team. He has a handicap of 7 in the UK and 6 in Argentina.

Career

In 2005 Tomlinson started for England for the first time.

He plays for England in a team with his brother Luke, James Beim and Malcom Borwick. In 2008 the four won the Cartier International in the Guards Polo Club with 10-9 against Australia. At the St. Regis International Test Match at Cowdray Park Polo Club, he and his team won (as captain) against Italy. And at the Williams De Broe Test Match at the Beaufort Polo Club (against New Zealand) he showed that he is one of the best English players. In the Queen's Cup 2008 he played for the Apes Hill team and won the Vivari Cup Subfinal against the Grayshurst team. He also played on the Argentina Polo Tour 2008 for the Twelve Oaks team. He was also team captain at the New Zealand Test Game at the Kijikiji Polo Club.

Private

Tomlinson was born into a polo family, and his maternal grandfather was the founder of the Woolmers Park Polo Club. His mother Claire Tomlinson is one of the best polo players. His siblings Luke and Emma also play polo. His family runs the "Beaufort Polo Club".

He attended the prestigious private school Marlborough College in Wiltshire and the University of the West of England in Bristol .

He has been married to the dressage rider Laura Bechtolsheimer since March 2013 , with whom he has been in a relationship since 2009 and engaged since August 2012. The church wedding took place on March 2, 2013 in the village church of Arosa . The numerous wedding guests invited included Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge , William, Duke of Cambridge and Harry of Wales .
