Richard Ludlow

Sir Richard Ludlow of Stokesay Castle and Hodnet (* around 1430, † 1498 ), was an English knight .

Life

Sir Richard Ludlow was a son of William Ludlow.

He began his career as Justice of Array in Surrey in 1457, was appointed Sergeant of the cellar at court and in 1460 Keeper of Guildford Park , a royal hunting ground. Sir Richard served as Sheriff of Shropshire in 1477/78 and 1489.

He bought several houses and lands, including in Henley (Surrey), Padmore and Downton (Shropshire).

Sir Richard accompanied Edward IV on his French campaign in 1475 and was made Knight of the Bath on April 18, 1475 by his sovereign .

Sir Richard Ludlow died in 1498.

Sir Richard was married to Isabelle Pembridge.
