Richard Michaëlis

Richard Michaëlis (born June 27, 1856 or 1855 in Danzig ; † March 10 or April 10, 1941 in Camp de Gurs ) was a German judge .

Life

He was the son of the archaeologist Adolf Michaelis and the great-uncle of Heinz Seeligmann . In 1877 he took the oath on the Prussian sovereign. In 1883 he became a district judge and in 1886 a district judge. His appointment to the Higher Regional Court Council took place in 1905. In 1910 he was honored with the title of Privy Councilor of Justice. From 1912 he was assistant judge at the Reichsgericht and in the same year he became a Reich judge. In 1922 he also became a deputy member of the State Court for the Protection of the Republic. In 1924 he retired.

In January 2004, the artist Gunter Demnig relocated Stolpersteine at Wintererstraße 6 in Freiburg , in memory of Richard Michaëlis and his wife Alma.
