Richard Olmstead
Richard Glenn Olmstead (* 1951 ) is an American botanist . His area of interest is the phylogenetic investigation of the eclipses using molecular biological methods.
In 1988 he obtained his doctorate at the University of Washington with a thesis on the systematics and population genetics of Scutellaria, which occurs in the western United States . He then worked for three years with Jeff Palmer on a systematics of the Asteridae based on molecular biology . After teaching as an assistant professor at the University of Colorado for five years , he returned to the University of Washington in 1996, where he was appointed professor at the Department of Botany. He was a member of the Angiosperm Phylogeny Group .
His research group has specialized in the molecular biological studies of the Asteridae.
