Richard Shirreff

Sir Alexander Richard David Shirreff , KCB , CBE (born October 21, 1955 in Kenya ) is a British general and author.

Life

Shirreff was promoted to major general on May 9, 2003 and became chief of staff of the Land Command. In 2005 he became commander of the 3rd Division , which was used in July 2006 as the HQ Multinational Division South East in Iraq . In January 2007 he was appointed commander of the multinational NATO corps Allied Rapid Reaction Corps (ARRC) and promoted to lieutenant general on December 13 of that year. From 2011 to 2014 he was, as Full General , Deputy Supreme Commander NATO Europe. He retired from this post in March 2014.

Richard Shirreff is Colonel of the Regiment of the King's Royal Hussars .
