Richard Stanton

Richard Stanton (born March 8, 1962 in Hitchin ) is a former British racing driver .

Career

Richard Stanton was active as a GT and sports car driver between 2001 and 2008 . His main field of activity was the British GT Championship , where he was among other things a works driver for Morgan and TVR at the start. During this time he contested 72 races, won one race and celebrated a class victory. He had his first outing in 2001 at Silverstone , a race of the British GT Championship in 2001 , in which he retired. He had his first finish 14 days later, on April 15, 2001, when he and Steve Hyde on a TVR Tuscan R at the race in Snetterton Was a penalty.

Due to TVR's factory involvement in the European Le Mans Series , Stanton also competed in this racing series for a number of years. He was entered in the Le Mans 24-hour race three times ; he was never able to place in any of the three starts. In 2003 he finished 20th overall. In his last active season he celebrated his only victory when he won the GT race of the British championship in Spa .
