On January 15, 1947, Richard Wolf and his wife Annemarie (* May 3, 1901, † January 3, 1969) founded the new company Richard Wolf GmbH in Knittlingen , east of Karlsruhe . To date, the company has developed into one of the world's leading manufacturers of endoscopes and endoscopic systems.

Shortly before her death in 1968, Annemarie Wolf established the Richard and Annemarie Wolf Foundation. It is committed to promoting medical science, especially the disciplines that work with endoscopes, as well as supporting hospital and nursing organizations. Only six months after her death was the foundation approved by the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Culture on July 15, 1969.
