Richmond is home to the Kronosaurus Fossil Corner , a museum that houses around 200 fossil exhibits. Richmond lies in the center of a prehistoric inland sea, in which the Kronosaurus , the largest known genus of pliosaurs to date, was found. The first fossil of Kronosaurus was found there in 1889. In addition to this museum, there are accommodations for tourists and a swimming pool with a campsite.
Besides the income from tourism, the place lives from sheep and cattle breeding.
